Keng Eng Kee Seafood @ Alexandra Village

Yesterday, our colleague 'pirate', IM a few of us, asking if we want to go to KEK? Another colleague 'old cat' wanted to go to Ikea to buy something. We could all have lunch at Alexandra Village first before walking over to Ikea. Sure!

On the way there, a colleague 'almond jelly' said she wanted to eat the 'platter thingy' that was posted here before. So when we came, while wondering what to eat, we saw that there's a set menu for 4-6 persons for $78. We just decided to order it.

So.... in the set menu there was:

The Platter of Three. The name in Chinese sounds better, it was Golden (Huang Jin) Platter of 3. They are all quite yummy. The portion's also quite big for the 5 of us.

It had Golden Pork Ribs as well. "Got standard" lah. Not superbly good or bad. ;-)

The set menu is suppose to serve Chinese Spinach with Ikan Bilis. No one really wanted that, and they said we could change to another veg dish if we want. So we opted for Sambal Kangkong. Spicy!

This is the Steamed Seabass with Brown Bean Sauce. Can't really take photo of fish. I seldom take nice photo of them!

The fish was fresh and nice. The brown bean sauce is also full of 'lard pieces'. Is that why it was so fragrant and delicious?

The set meal ends with a dessert that was Almond Jelly with Longan.

Since we were here, we thought we should not miss out on their famous kway teow.
So, we ordered a plate of it as well. Yes, it's the famous raw egg that goes on top of kway teow :-) Yup... with the wok hei, lard pieces, etc...

Heart clogging, but happy lunch. ;-) Too much food actually, should have omitted the Kway Teow, but we were glad we ordered it.

(This is one of the stalls that appeared on the Straits Times last week or week before.)

Porridge and Mee Pok

My other sis from UK is visiting and she is missing all the food that she has not eaten for the last two years. Soon Kueh, Gao Teng Kueh, Fruit Rojak, etc... So this morning, we went to a nearby food centre, and she ate a soon kueh and bought a piece of gao teng kueh.

She saw Mee Pok store, and just had to order it.

She said London does not sell Mee Pok. (anyone from London agrees with her? can't be right?)
She had not drunk soup that has 'tong chai' in it for a long time too. That she forgot what the preserved veg is called!

Her other half ate prawn noodles. A bit 'pai seh' to take photo of his food. ;-)

Well, I had comfort food. Duck porridge.

The duck's hidden below and I had a 'lor neng' to go with it as well.

It's kinda impossible to eat so much things is so few days right?

Brunch @ Clementi West St 2

I have this bad habit of sleeping in on Saturdays. This morning I was woken up by my mobile ringing and it was sis asking if I want lunch? I said yes, just get anything that you are eating.

Then I was going to get back to bed that I realise it is 11.45 AM! Wow, I have been feeling very sleepy the whole week, after being given anti histamines by the doctor to ease the itch I have on my skin.

Anyway, this is my brunch. It is bought from the stall at Block 727 Clementi West St 2. My sis seems to love to buy food from here. It has been a long time since we ate from this stall, and she misses the food.

The big yummy fried chicken, with a piece of fried toufu and brinjals. The nasi lemak is pretty fragrant too. Yummy! Food's getting expensive. This cost $3.30 Well, when you gotta eat, you gotta eat.

Ikea Restaurant @ Alexandra

I think only in Singapore that people go to Ikea not for furniture shopping but for food! Do you belong to this category of people? :-)

Anyway, a colleague wanted to buy an ironing board to replace the one at home that broke into 2! Err.. How did it happen? Their part time helper broke it, that's what they say. haha...

Anyway, a few of us got Daily Specials, which is Nasi Goreng. It changes daily. You can view their website to know what's the Daily Meal for that day you are visiting.

There are also those, who only eat meatballs.

What is this? Hey, it's actually mock meat! It looks so real ya?
Colleague said it taste quite nice.

More than half of us are Ikea members, so we get free drinks!

Hope you had a productive Saturday. I am one of those who laze and sleep till about noon on Saturdays! :-)

Hawker food @ Dover Market and Food Centre

Today's lunch was at Dover Market and Food Centre. This place's not going to be around for long. If you go there nowadays, you can only see a few stores left.

What did we eat?

Two colleague at Vegetarian from 2 different stores, the pictures are not here. They ate too fast. haha..

Another ate the Beef Rice from the Zhi Char store at the market side.

Another 2 ordered Kuey Teow Mee, one person loves 'hum' and the other do not eat 'hum'. haha..

I ate Pork Rib rice also from the Zhi Char store. Both from the Zhi Char taste ok, but a bit oily lah. But all nice food's oily right? Unless it was yesterday's sandwich. haha...

We ended our meal from this dessert stall, where one colleague said the lady makes dessert with the most passion. (The rest of us translate passion = long wait. haha..)

2 ate bo bo chacha, not shown here. 3 of us ate Chendol. It always look whitish right?

So, I dig abit lah, then now you can see the chendol and the ang tow. (red beans). Not bad....

We realise that we should have ordered Ice Kachang instead! Look at all the Ang Tow on it! This colleague's dessert had the stare from the rest of us.

Wonder tomorrow, jiak si mi. haha....
