The Daily Scoop @ Clementi Arcade

My colleagues are on an ice cream binge! The last two weeks or is it three, we have been going to ice cream places! It's good that we work not too far from all these boutique ice cream places..

Today someone suggested we head to Sunset Way to check out the place. OK, the food we ate here maybe tomorrow, but since we were in Sunset Way, someone said.... so so nearby there's the ice cream place that we have not been for so so so long.

We walked in the hot afternoon sun, 1 driver is on course, the other did not drive today. Anyway, it was a short walk along Sunset Way. You will reach Clementi Arcade. If you are wondering what's here, nothing much except for The Daily Scoop we are after. It's shown in the photo (spot the white arrow, haha).

5 of us today, we had 2 double scoops.
This is the Avocado (on the right) and Green Tea & Red Bean (on the left).
Maybe it's our tongue, but we think Avocado should be renamed Ciku. It really taste so similar to ciku! We are not complaining :-) We like it.

The white one is Coconut! Which taste quite like the real thing.
The brownish one is Baileys and Choc Chips.

One thing though, this place serves ice cream in real cold ceramic bowls. Not plastic or paper cups. So it scores a few points if you are into counting carbon credits :-)

And also... no students studying, wonder why... But it's full though, with working people all eating ice cream.

Ichiban Boshi @ The Centrepoint

It seems that the Ichiban range of restaurants is suddenly appearing everywhere! Suddenly there are so many Ichiban Boshi and Ichiban Sushi branches at the various malls. It has taken over the Pizza Hut location at The Centrepoint (opposite Prima).

Aunt wanted Jap food last Sunday, so we walked in. Really nice deco. Just showing 5 photos, I think I have too much Jap food photos that are too repetitive. hehe..

My cousin loves salmon, so remembered that colleague ordered this in another Ichiban at IMM, so we ordered this, and told them to hold the chilli.

I had the stone grill thingy and had unagi. (my hand shaky... photo not really in focus) haha..

The hotstone thingy came as a set, with salad and miso soup.
The salad are all pre-prepared and left in the fridge. Maybe the fridge is too cold because some leaves have been 'cooked' by the cold. OK lah, since they are so new and so busy. It will improve.

Anyway, desserts time. Uncle and cousin shared this "peach" ice cream.

Aunt and I, we shared this macha ice cream. I love it. The ice cream on top, the middle layer is creamy tofu like thingy, and red bean below. It goes very well.

Have a good week ahead. 2 more working days for this week.

Char Kway Teow, Hokkien Mee, Chicken Wings @ Newton Food Centre

Tonite after watching the movie Stardust with some friends, we went over to Newton Food Centre to have supper. It's been a long long long time since I step in here, after all it's a touristy place right? What are the locals doing here? haha..

Well, someone suggested it and off we went.Just showing you 3 out of the different food we ate.

We have a friend from US who came to Singapore to work for a year and he's leaving to work in Korea soon. He die die want to eat Char Kuey Teow. OK lor, since not sure when he will get to eat it again. Someone said this stall is nice, so we came here lor. See how minister photo on it leh.... And a makansutra cert also.

Anyway, here's the CKT and also the Hokkien Mee.

Dunno why when we go supper, we always must eat chicken wings. We ask the people selling us the other food, which chicken wing is nice, so they told us that one, pointing to the opposite side. We trust them lor.

Good nite!

p/s Hey dear friends who is now holidaying in Europe, you miss the food here or not? hehe..

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng @ Bugis Junction (2)

Continuation from yesterday's post....

We had this to share amongst the 6 of us. Sorry, did not really get the name, but it is wrapped with bacon and it taste not bad. It does not really look the same in the menu picture though. haha..

Uncle had this: Fried spaghetti with pork fillet in "hong kong" style. Looks very plain, but he says it is good. (except he is no pea eater... haha..) The pork fillet is mixed inside, the menu had it in a piece on top.

Cousin had braised chicken and potato with shanghai style veg rice.

The cousin we had not met for some time had Cheese baked rice with chicken chop.
He seems to enjoy it, so I guess it's good.

This is what I had: Roasted honey spare ribs shanghai style veg. rice. Pretty decent.

Aunt had Shanghai noodle with minced pork and potato. She said it looked boring. haha..

Sis had HK stirred noodle with honey spare ribs. Very instant noodles right? I think most HK Cafe does this instant noodles thingy.

That's it. Actually, I am now going to have some instant noodles after looking at the last photo above.

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng @ Bugis Junction

This afternoon, we met up with another cousin we had not seen in a long time. Sis also wanted to stop by NLB after lunch to visit her student's pushcart thingy, so we settled to have lunch at Bugis.

Walking around Bugis Junction, we realised that there's lots of chnages. Shows that we have not been here for the longest time. The basement food places have all moved to the 3rd floor!

Anyway, we saw this and walked in. Wong Kok Char Chan Teng.

Not sure if you feel it, all the Char Chan Teng loves exaggeration. tall glasses of cold drinks, big mugs of hot drinks, gigantic toast etc...

Well, we did have tall glass of Ying Yang, mix of coffee and tea.

This is another glass of Fresh Lemon Tea - Cold.

This is also ying yang, but the ice is outside! haha.. This is called the "authentic" version.

I had Hot Honey Lime Tea. I think its quite nice :-)

We saw others ordering the gigantic toast, and so did we.
It's like half a loaf of bread cut into 6 pieces with a scoop of ice cream on top

Shall show some food photos tomorrow.

Island Cremery @ Serene Centre

It seems when you start eating ice cream, you get addicted to it. The day before we went to Venezia, then yesterday, we ended up at Island Cremery at Serene Centre. Oh no... calories are loading up!

Just like yesterday's venue, this place is also a student's haunt, especially 'little girls' from a school nearby. You should know which school. haha..

The logo, which you can find on the containers when you have a tub takeaway.

No need to ask how much, just look at the board :-)

There were 4 of us yesterday, one colleague who loves this place was on half day.
Anyway, this place is unique and it has unique flavours too. This is Bandung. It taste quite bandungy. haha...

For me, I had Nutella. Slurp!

Another colleague prefer the cone, so he had not sure which chocolate he had :-p

Another colleague eat very little for lunch, so that she can have this! Err, I forgot to ask her what flavour too. But it looks good eh?

We all, add up our ages more than 120 years old, when saw photos posted up, we also did the same! Haha... Since we had a digital camera, and this place provides a photo printer to print!!

We printed it out, scribble something, and then we stuck it up on the wall immediately. (though we think its suppose to be done by staff of this place :-p )

Fun right? Maybe we should go back there and see if our photo is still there, and try out more flavours!

Gelateria Venezia @ Guthrie House, off Sixth Avenue

Colleagues and I, we had lunch yesterday at Turf City, and after that we wanted some Ice Cream. Since we were nearby Guthrie House, we went there to pay Venezia a visit.

At this time of the year, you can see students studying everywhere, this place has more than half the tables filled with very hardworking students. Wishing them all the best in their exams!

What did we have?
Those who like Durian, they shared this double scoop of Durian Gelato.

For the rest of who do not like, we shared a waffle with 3 scoops of ice cream.
Yummy! Mango Sorbet, Tiramisu and forgot the name of the chocolate.

It was good! Our stomachs have this compartment reserved for ice cream at anytime. Venezia is one of the pioneer of the made in Singapore 'boutique' ice cream shops. If I am not mistaken around the year 2000.

Any of you are also lovers of ice cream or gelato?
