We were celebrating a friend's birthday earlier at Lau Pa Sat after our Bible Study. We had the usual satay and chicken wings, chai tow kueh, or jien etc...

The chicken wing was horrible. It looks so so carcinogenic. (i.e. super chao tar/ burnt) After scraping off the burnt parts, putting it in our mouth, it tasted so bland inside. We decided, the chicken wings stall is slowly deteriorating beyond description. 10 over of us on the table agreed. We need to look for alternatives to chicken wings in lau pa sat. By the way, there's only one stall selling the honey chicken wings, it's a monopoly that's why they are becoming complacent!!!

Momo and I read about this new Filipino Fried Chicken around. Oh, it's time to go try it! It has all set meals on the menu, but we just wanted chicken to share around. We asked if they sell only chicken pieces. Yes, they do. $2.50 per piece and it will take 15 minutes to prepare. Sure. We ordered, paid and waited.



The chicken comes with this sauce. It taste like the mash potato sauce. If you are a fan of brown sauce, you will like it. No, then skip it.



The few of us thought that the chicken was worth the wait. Hot freshly fried chicken. Crispy outside, juicy inside. The batter was a bit salty, so it was quite appetising. Compared to the wings earlier, this was so much better. They are ok size too.



We ordered 5 pieces. They fried 4 first and had to wait for another one in another deep fryer. So while waiting for the last piece, I took these photos ;-)

Another place to have fried chicken if you want something from the regular 'cooked with 11 herbs and spices brand'. ;-)

Hotshots Burger @ Lau Pa Sat

Was tempted to eat this because Southernoise sent me a link in my FB inbox few days ago. It so happened that last night, a few friends wanted supper and we went to Lau Pa Sat. Aha. Time for me to try the Hotshots Burger.

Have seen this stall, but have never ordered from it. I usually will order the CKT from its neighbour instead. No CKT today. It's burger day. (or rather night.)




Not sure of which burger to eat, I asked the lady at the counter. She said try this. So, I had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. With real Bleu Cheese.



After ordering and paying. I was given this card. I had to wait for my burger. It told me why I needed to wait too. LOL



The guy that was packing my burger did it with so much care. It's so neat too!
This is it, back on my seat.



After carefully opened it, this is what I saw. Oh, the smell of the bleu cheese. Either you like it or you hate it. People beside me could smell it immediately!



The bun was really soft. The meat was juicy. You need lots of serviettes or better still, prepare to come here with 'wet ones', because the juice will be dripping. Enough said. You try it and let me know.

Birthday Supper @ Lau Pa Sat

On Tuesday night, after our Bible Study Fellowship lessons, 16 of us went out for supper. It was to celebrate our dear friend Matthew's birthday. (Btw, we are also studying the book of Matthew. :-) )

It seems that Lau Pa Sat has become our new makan haunt. It has been 'siao/gila' satay mood for the last few months. We have been coming here since we realize some time ago that our other supper place, does not offer 50% off desserts for dining in anymore.

Here's some of the things we had. The sticky red chicken wings.



Our dear Matthew got this plate complimentary from the Satay man. Do not ask how he did it, but he did! LOL. The prawns can eat lah if you have peculiar taste buds. LOL



But it's the Satay that we like. After trying so many stalls, it seems we only like 1 stall. We like Satay Power. Everyone's tastebuds are different, but we found that we all seem to agree on the same thing. Very united huh. LOL



We ordered 4 kinds. Duck, Beef, Mutton and Chicken. 15 each, so we have 60 sticks to share around.



We also had kueh pai ti.



And the same Sisters Rojak again.



Plus desserts that we pretend to be the birthday cake. LOL



We had other things too, but they have been posted here before, so enough of it lah.
Oh yes, to save money, ask people who have the kopitiam card to pay first. You get 10% off. Then split the bill accordingly. That's what we do.
